C’nano

C’Nano, the National Center of Competence in Nanosciences, is a CNRS Support and Research Unit (UAR 2205), at the service of the CNRS and the French scientific community in nanosciences. The mission of this unit is to federate this community within a national network and to promote research, training and innovation in nanosciences.

The actions of C’Nano are declined on 4 main axes:

Research
Innovation
Training
Prospective

The support to research in nanosciences through the organization and the support of various actions of multidisciplinary scientific animation: organization of an annual national congress, thematic days, national or bilateral scientific workshops on various topics related to nanosciences…
The creation and promotion of interfaces between academic research and industry, aiming in particular at raising awareness of industrial partnerships and innovation, and at the professional integration of young PhDs in nanosciences: creation of partner networks, entrepreneurship support program, etc.

Promotion of training in nanoscience, exchanges with society and dissemination of knowledge to the general public: establishment of “nanoscience” training courses at master’s level, organization and support of thematic schools and scientific popularization events (science cafés, exhibitions for the general public, actions towards high schools, etc.).
The implementation of foresight and economic intelligence studies to support the development of nanosciences and nanotechnologies at all levels (research, training, innovation): identification of weak signals, evaluation of innovation opportunities and the socio-economic impact of “nanos”.
